My work has a unique aura, with an almost three-dimensional feel. The vibration of the silver, the texture of the glass and the deep black always fascinate me.

My mostly floral still lifes appear at first glance to be simple and accessible, only to reveal further layers of meaning.
The central theme of my work is the vulnerability of nature and, ultimately, of human beings.
I don't want to make a political statement, but to touch people with my art. I want to encourage them to think about what concerns us all: the transience of what surrounds us.

My photographic still lifes are characterised by asymmetry, simplicity, rigour, naturalness, mystery, freedom and tranquillity. They are created on the basis of the cosmic space of darkness. My fascination with creation allows me to see wonderful things, even the smallest, and to develop a great appreciation for them. Poetry and literature are an integral part of my work.

I work very consistently with the over 180 year old wet plate collodion process, which is the only medium I currently use in my work. It often takes me days to produce a single work. But this deceleration is exactly what I want. I create unique photographic works exclusively on black glass made for me.

Ambrotypia is derived from the Greek word "ambrotos", meaning immortal. Grey is an impression beyond extremes. Grey is able to attract attention and create moods. In all its restraint, grey has a presence of its own. For me, grey offers an unsurpassed level of serenity and can transform energy into stillness.
